Community Tourism Overview

Costa Rica is one of the best destinations in the world to experience the community-based ecotourism. With the help of United Nations Development Program, the rural communities have been trying to conserve the forests, rivers, the diversity of birds and wildlife. Travel associations like ACTUAR are leaders in the community-based ecotourism development.

The community-based ecotourism destinations in Costa Rica can be divided into the following regions: Atlantic, Central Valley, Northern Zone, Guanacaste, Central Pacific, and Southern Zone.
