Description
Located deep the South Pacific, nestled in the Golfo Dulce you will find the Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. The Playa Nicuesa Lodge offers you the opportunity to experience a unique rainforest adventure in a secluded, tropical, coastal rainforest preserve. To reach this lodge is part of the adventure. You can fly into either Puerto Jimenez or Golfo to and then take a motor boat across the gulf to their secluded location. Playa Nicuesa is a true ecolodge and attracts guests
that search for a quite and relaxed stay with a jungle background. This family owned and operated lodge offers top quality service, comfortable rooms, and ideal access to eco-adventure activities. You will find your days full of hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and then of course an afternoon to relax and maybe take a nap.




Activities

The Playa Nicuesa Lodge is the perfect destination for the adventurous, eco traveler. The lodge has a very unique and secluded location that offers visitors a range of activities and attractions. The lodge lies on the Golfo Dulce, which offers 80 degree blue green waters, perfect for kayaking, swimming, and snorkeling.   For those that love to fish, the Golfo Dulce offers top quality deep sea as well as rivers and mangroves that pretty much guarantees a fresh fish dinner that night. The lodge also lies on a private, 165-acre preserve is surrounded by thousands of acres of pristine tropical rainforest, full of fruit trees and tropical flowering plants. The lodge will be happy to help you plan tours you may wish to enjoy.

 

Accommodations
The lodge offers four private cabins and the Mango Guesthouse with four private rooms. All cabins and
rooms have canopied beds, ceiling fans, private terraces, and private baths with hot water and open-air garden shower. The full length louvre doors that wrap around your room and private verandas afford panoramic views of your natural surroundings. Their open-air main house, built into the rainforest, offers the perfect place to relax after an adventurous day. Electricity is provided by solar energy. However, candles are still used throughout the lodge to maintain the natural experience.

 



Commitment to Sustainability

One of the primary goals of the Playa Nicuesa Lodge is environmental preservation and awareness. The Lodge design emphasizes harmony with the natural environment and minimal disturbance to the beautiful rainforest, area wildlife, and pristine waters that surround the lodge. The majority of development was placed in a central location, allowing over 98% of the 165-acre property to remain a nature preserve with numerous hiking trails. All wood purchased for the project comes from local businesses and the   lodge also selected roofing materials made from recycled plastic including banana bags. The primary energy source is a state of the art solar energy system that provides clean and renewable energy to the lodge. Guests are provides with organic soaps and shampoos and use cleaning products that are organic and biodegradable - free of chemical and toxins. Organics are composted in the garden. The lodge owners are very involved with conservation work with local and international conservation groups active in preserving the rainforest and marine environment of the area.

Location
The Playa Nicuesa Lodge is located in the deep Southern Region of Costa Rica. The lodge lies on a165-acre private preserve located within the Golfo Dulce/Osa Peninsula region which has been called one of the most biologically diverse places on the earth. The lodge is easy to visit with daily flights from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and then a 45min boat ride across the gulf to their secluded location. For those traveling by car you will need to travel all the way down to Golfito where you can take a boat across the gulf.

Rates
The lodge offers One Bedroom Cabins, Two Bedroom Cabins and Mango Guest House. The cabins both start at $160pp and the guest house rooms are $140pp. All rates are per night and included boat pick up and drop off from town of arrival and departure (Golfito/Puerto Jimenez), three meals, unlimited self guided hikes on preserve, use of kayaks, windsurfers, snorkeling and fishing equipment.
