Rafting and Rainforest

D1 Arrive at Rafiki Safari Lodge on the Rio Savegre after a scenic drive through palm tree plantations and several Costa Rican villages. You can talk to the managers and resident biologists of the lodge about the conservation efforts with the tapir reintroduction or the micro-hydro renewable energy system that powers the lodge.

D2 After breakfast you can go on a guided white-water rafting trip down the Rio Savegre (class 3-4, depending on the time of year). The river winds through some pristine primary rainforest where abundant wildlife is can be seen throughout the trip. After the trip, enjoy a dip in their chemical free pool. D3 Wake up early for a guided birding hike on the rainforest trails surrounding the lodge. After breakfast, transfer to La Cusinga Lodge driving through some of the most sparsely populated areas in Costa Rica and the most beautiful beaches. Overnight at La Cusinga Lodge.

D4 After a typical Costa Rican breakfast, go on a guided rainforest hike through the rainforest preserve of La Cusinga. You can take a dip in a natural pool made from a stream. In the afternoon hike down the Arcos beach to sunbathe, swim, and explore the wide beach area. Overnight at La Cusinga Lodge.
