The Southern Zone
D1 Fly down to Palmar Norte from San Jose.
Transfer to the Sierpe River and take a scenic boat ride down
the river and across Drake’s Bay to Aguila de Osa Inn.
Take a kayaking tour along the Aguitas River. Overnight at
the Aguila de Osa Inn.
D2 Tour Corcovado National Park for a full
day with a local guide. Corcovado is a one of the most pristine
areas in Costa Rica. Overnight in Aguila de Osa Inn.
D3 Tour Isla de Cano Biological Reserve.
You can either snorkel or scuba dive (if you are certified)
the rich waters off the island. You can also hike the trails
on this uninhabited island. After dinner you can go on a night
hike with a guide and check out the critters in the jungle.
Overnight at Aguila de Osa.
D4 Transfer to Esquinas Rainforest Lodge.
Enjoy a swim in their pool that is chemical free. Overnight
at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge.
D5 Go birding in the morning with a local
guide and get a glimpse of some the colorful birds of the
rainforest. After a typical breakfast at the lodge, you can
go on a horseback ride through the valley of La Gamba and
cool yourself at a waterfall. On the way back you can stop
and talk to some local people in the village of La Gamba.
Overnight in Esquinas Lodge.
D6 After a typical Costa Rican breakfast,
transfer to San Jose and either stay in the capital or fly
back to your home of residence.
